Q-Ride Unrestricted R Class OPEN Motorcycle Licence Course
 

The Q-Ride unrestricted R course gives you your full open licence and unlimited choices of what motorcycle you can ride next! You can do your Q-Ride unrestricted (R) course after you have held your RE restricted licence for at least 2 years.

Complete the Q-Ride unrestricted (R) course
You must undertake the Q-Ride unrestricted (R) course on an R unrestricted motorcycle which we provide free of charge at One Addiction. You can't undertake the course on a moped,  trike or conditionally registered motorcycle.

During the course you will need to demonstrate your competency on an R motorcycle. When you have been assessed as having acquired the required competencies, the Q-Ride training provider will issue you with a competency declaration (Q-Ride certificate). Your competency declaration is not a licence.

If your Q-Ride trainer notifies the Department of Transport and Main Roads that you have successfully completed the course you can apply for your R licence online.

Your competency declaration is only valid for 1 year from the date of issue. If you do not upgrade to an R licence within 1 year, it will expire and you will need to do the Q-Ride course again to get a new competency declaration.

There is no fee to upgrade your licence. However you will have to pay a fee if you are renewing your licence at the same time.
